Imagine setting a trade condition onchain without revealing your entire strategy before that condition is met. That's an interesting problem to solve in crypto.
This is what caught my attention about Nillion and its approach to Encrypted Markets.
Its core product, Covenants, allows an instruction to remain encrypted until a specified condition is met. For example, imagine setting an instruction to execute when ETH reaches a certain price. The instruction stays sealed until the condition is satisfied, rather than exposing the details upfront.
DUSK is the first phase of this approach, bringing Covenants to Ethereum and laying the groundwork for condition-based applications.
What I find interesting is the focus on trading intentions, not just transaction privacy. In open markets, information can be valuable even before a trade happens. Keeping certain instructions private could create new possibilities for how onchain markets work.
The real test will be how developers use this technology in practice, and that's what I'll be watching as Nillion moves forward.
