Just now, Bitcoin mining difficulty jumped significantly again, making things even tighter for miners ⛏️

The latest difficulty adjustment is now in:
🔹 Difficulty increased by about 5.9%, reaching 140.6T (block 971,712)
🔹 Before the adjustment, blocks were averaging about 9 minutes 26 seconds—faster than the 10-minute target, which shows that more hashrate is still coming online
🔹 The pre-adjustment estimate briefly reached 6.7%, the largest expected increase since June

Here’s the painful part: BTC is currently around $82,000, while JPMorgan estimates mining production costs at roughly $85,000. In other words, difficulty is rising, but the coin price still hasn’t crossed the cost line, squeezing profit margins from both sides.

Still, there’s no need to be too pessimistic. Difficulty is currently about 15% below last October’s all-time high. The next adjustment is in roughly two weeks (block 973,728). It’ll be worth watching to see whether difficulty rises again or some miners can’t hold on and shut down.

Do you think selling pressure from miners will become a concern going forward? Let’s discuss in the comments 👇
