How was a token with not a single token set aside for the team launched back then?
Here’s how I understand it: YFI’s distribution method is often called a “fair launch,” meaning no tokens were reserved for the team or investors, and everyone acquired them under the same rules.
Andre Cronje is the founder of the DeFi protocol Yearn, which was initially called iEarn and launched in 2020.
My rule of thumb now: don’t assume a token is safer just because “the team kept no allocation.” You still need to check the contract’s security and the liquidity.
$YFI is Yearn’s governance token. Its initial total supply was only 30,000 tokens. Currently: 2,336.
