At its fall business update on October 15, Rick Wurster, CEO of Charles Schwab, one of the largest discount brokerages in the United States, made the announcement official. Schwab Crypto has completed its full rollout of spot 【Bitcoin】 and 【Ethereum】 trading to retail clients.

Eligible clients can buy and sell BTC and ETH directly through their existing brokerage accounts. That means U.S. stock-market retail investors no longer need to wrestle with complicated crypto-native software, and the barriers to buying spot crypto with funds from outside the crypto ecosystem have been swept away.

Take a look at its scale: Schwab oversees approximately 【$13.33 trillion】 in client assets and has 【40.3 million】 active brokerage accounts. That means even a tiny share of those existing assets being allocated to crypto could bring in tens of billions of dollars in fresh capital.

Moreover, Schwab clients already hold around 【20%】 of the industry’s spot crypto ETF assets. This shows they’re not short on purchasing power—they’ve simply lacked a convenient way to trade spot crypto directly.

【The thinking behind the fees and withdrawal rules】

Schwab has set its fee at 【0.75%】 per trade. That makes it considerably more expensive than native crypto platforms, but for clients accustomed to traditional brokerages, paying a small fee for a compliant, hassle-free experience is perfectly acceptable.

The CEO also said outright that crypto trading would sit alongside the 【prediction markets】 business as an important channel for expanding the company’s 【transaction-based revenue】. This means traditional giants are no longer content with collecting management fees—they’re entering the fray to grab a piece of the lucrative high-frequency trading business.

For transfers, BTC and ETH deposits and withdrawals will be rolled out in stages. New withdrawal addresses must be registered and are subject to a 【24-hour】 waiting period. Withdrawals are limited to 【3】 per 24 hours, with a maximum of 【$5,000】 each. This means Schwab is initially placing tight controls on on-chain transfers to keep funds circulating within its own ecosystem and meet risk-control requirements.

【The macro backdrop and rotation of market capital】

Right now, U.S. September CPI came in at 【3.7%】 year over year and PPI at 【6.3%】, both above expectations. Yet the 10-year Treasury yield has fallen from 【5.36%】 to around 【5.1%】. This means the market has become desensitized to inflation data, while concerns about tight macro liquidity are easing.

BTC briefly fell below 【$80,000】 before rebounding to around 【$82,000】, up about 【2%】 over 24 hours. ETH also gained about 【5%】 to reach 【$2,460】. This shows there’s solid buying support near the bottom: the fact that negative news can’t push prices much lower says it all.

$BNB is currently holding steady around 【$730】. After traditional brokerage clients enter the market and buy BTC and ETH, their appetite for risk will inevitably rotate among major coins. As a core asset in the exchange ecosystem, $BNB is naturally set to benefit from the spillover in attention.

【What comes next and the outlook for the cycle】

Schwab plans to add 【SOL】, 【AVAX】, and 【LINK】 by 【the end of 2026】, with its crypto services for financial advisors targeted for 【mid-2027】. This means compliant buying is spreading to major smart contract platforms. The entry of financial advisors next year will be the key catalyst for unlocking large, long-term capital.

Traditional giants laying the groundwork is just the beginning; each new asset listing that follows will be a tangible incremental catalyst. Keep a close eye on the actual progress of Wall Street giants’ businesses. Understanding where big money is going is far more useful than watching short-term candlesticks.
