Lighter is adding options

Lighter has officially dropped the line “Options season. Coming soon,” teasing the launch of options trading. It hasn’t shared any details about the underlying assets, margin model, or launch date—it’s purely a verbal announcement.

Perpetual DEXs are expanding into options to compete for trades and fees from the same high-frequency traders. Lighter hasn’t launched its token yet, but this news has already raised expectations among points farmers. Real trading activity will have to wait until the product is actually up and running. Protocols with live derivatives products will be brought out for comparison, and the news could fuel a short-term rally—but there may be selling pressure near the previous high-volume trading zone. Mainnet gas fees haven’t budged, on-chain derivatives volume hasn’t picked up, and no capital has flowed in. This move is driven by news.

Are you still farming Lighter points, or are you waiting to see whether the price can reclaim its previous low?
