What everyone in Venezuela wanted is now a reality...
Now all our transactions can easily be reported to Seniat so we can pay more taxes and the regime’s inner circle can benefit more easily by knowing every one of our moves.
Carlos Lomeña Soto Rosa, an associate of the Abou Nassif family, owns the Insular exchange house, the company Binance has partnered with to operate in bolívares without the need for P2P. Meanwhile, Yussef Abou Nassif is Delcy Rodríguez’s partner, and he and his brothers have handled multimillion-dollar contracts with the regime.
From now on, ordinary users would use Insular to deposit and withdraw money from Binance, and their data would automatically be recorded by Seniat, which will find a way to make us pay taxes even on red envelopes.
And don’t get me wrong: I’m not advocating tax evasion. Paying taxes in a country where they are turned into services, security, infrastructure, and healthcare benefits the population itself. But we’re in Venezuela, where the money collected isn’t put back into improving Venezuelans’ lives, but instead goes to line the pockets of officials in a regime that has spent many years harassing an increasingly impoverished society.
As for me, I’ll keep using P2P, with all its risks. At least I won’t make it quite so easy for those who never tire of squeezing ordinary citizens.
