Why is entering just the address not enough when depositing some coins?
First, what it is: The XRP Ledger lets receiving accounts enable a “destination tag required” setting. When enabled, transfers without a tag are rejected outright.
Why it works this way: Using a shared address with a Memo means exchanges have fewer addresses to manage, but it also means they rely entirely on that memo to identify who a deposit belongs to.
When depositing $XRP to an exchange, you usually need to enter both the address and the destination tag (Tag). Currently: 1.3426.
Before transferring, double-check the entire address and network. Send a small test amount before transferring a larger amount.
