“Solana’s Shanghai stop on its China tour was shut down, and the dinner was canceled too. What do the big names think?”

Solana made a big splash in Shanghai this week: its office opened, a giant-screen ad lit up a building in Lujiazui, and one “ni hao shanghai” post from its official account racked up 780,000 views.

But today, the Shanghai stop of Accelerate China was called off before it began. Eight or nine law enforcement officers arrived at the venue, and attendees were kept outside for over an hour. The VIP dinner scheduled for tonight has also been confirmed canceled.

🔹 Official response
Solana Foundation President Lily Liu (@calilyliu) said the publicity from the giant-screen ad caused registrations to quadruple overnight, far exceeding both the venue’s capacity and the limit set by the advance filing. To comply with local requirements, they had no choice but to postpone the event. She also thanked the Chinese community for its enthusiasm and apologized to those who had traveled especially to attend. The email sent by the organizers to registrants cited “logistical considerations related to the venue.”

1️⃣ CZ @cz_binance | XHunt global rank: 4
Verdict: What a shame. It seems they really don’t understand local policies.
Take: Bluntly points out that Solana misjudged domestic policies, and notes that this isn’t the first time—a classic case of “making the same mistake again.”

2️⃣ Big Lion Bro in Australia @BroLeon | XHunt global rank: 895
Verdict: I’m just numb.
Take: He cut his vacation short to make the trip, and assumed the Bund ad meant everything had been taken care of. Then the event was shut down—a feeling shared by many attendees who had traveled from afar.

3️⃣ DeFi teddy @DeFiTeddy2020 | XHunt global rank: 1735
Verdict: I’d still recommend keeping a low profile and quietly making money.
Take: Says it’s fine to set up an office and hold events, but you have to file the proper paperwork. There’s no way you should show off the office and run ads in Lujiazui so ostentatiously. He cites Wanxiang as an example.

4️⃣ Prophet @Crypto_He | XHunt global rank: 2532
Verdict: The tallest tree catches the most wind.
Take: The more ostentatious the advertising, the stricter the scrutiny. The official explanation was logistical issues, but “those who know, know.”

5️⃣ Tim @timbrobro | XHunt global rank: 11978
Verdict: This is already the third time.
Take: Gives a detailed account of the event being canceled on-site, and notes that registration for the Hangzhou stop has reportedly been suspended, leaving considerable uncertainty around the remaining stops.

6️⃣ Yoko Olivia @knowyourself518 | XHunt global rank: 14284
Verdict: The hype got too big. Some walls are thicker than you’d think.
Take: Shares a firsthand account of law enforcement officers stopping people and attendees being questioned, highlighting the powerlessness of a high-profile campaign when faced with reality.
