I would have missed this news if I hadn’t stumbled across it by chance📰. Turns out, it’s one of the most interesting developments this season at the intersection of TradFi and DeFi.

Aave Labs (the largest DeFi lending protocol, with over $40 billion in TVL) has launched Horizon—a platform that lets institutional investors borrow stablecoins against tokenized real-world assets (RWAs): U.S. Treasury bonds, institutional funds, and even AAA-rated CLOs.

What stood out most:
— large institutions get a compliance-friendly way to bring “frozen” liquidity into the protocol, instead of keeping it in slow traditional systems;
— under the hood, Chainlink SmartData tracks the value of tokenized assets in real time, so institutions see the current NAV rather than an outdated valuation;
— Aave’s founder previously forecast that the entire RWA market would grow to tens of trillions of dollars, and Horizon looks like a direct attempt to capture a share of that flow right now.

Even if you don’t trade $AAVE , this matters: the boundary between TradFi and DeFi is blurring through real infrastructure, not just hype.

This isn’t investment advice—I’m sharing a piece of news that I found telling.

Are you following the RWA space, or is this a new term for you?👇
