I’ve noticed a problem in crypto trading that many traders may have faced. When we place orders or set conditions onchain, our intentions can become visible before the trade even executes…This can give others a chance to study our strategy and act before us.
I started researching @Nillion and its approach to encrypted markets and Covenants really caught my attention.
What I found interesting is that Nillion is not just focusing on hiding transaction details. Covenants allow an entIre instruction to stay encrypted until a specific condition is met. For example, I can prepare an ETH trade that should activate only when BTC reaches $80,000. The instruction stays sealed while the condition is not met, and no single operator holds the key to open it early.
This can make a real difference for traders, automated strategies, and AI agents. It could help protect trading intentions, conditional orders, bids and payments from being exposed too early. . The network can resolve these instructions when their conditions are met, without relying on one trusted party to reveal them.
With DUSK now live on Ethereum mainnet, I’m interested to see how developers use Covenants to build more private and automated markets. For me, the biggest value is simple: the market should not always know what I’m planning before I’m ready to act.
Still alot to explore with Nillion, and I’ll be watching how this develops.
