Crypto ETFs: XRP attracts inflows when it falls, while Ethereum sees outflows when it rises. What should we take away?
The hotter-than-expected CPI reading on October 14 (3.7%) sent crypto prices lower. Yet U.S. ETF flows sent mixed signals.
October 14
→ XRP: around -6% over 24 hours
→ XRP ETFs: around +740,000 $ in net inflows
→ Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana and Hyperliquid ETFs: around -400 M$ combined (Cryptonews)
October 15
→ Ethereum: +3.5%, to around $2,444
→ Ethereum ETFs: -$60.22M, led by BlackRock and Grayscale. Cumulative net inflows since launch: $13.01B, or 5.10% of Ethereum's market capitalization
→ XRP ETFs: -$104,510, the smallest daily outflow in October. Cumulative total: $1.80B
→ Solana ETFs: -$9.82M, the largest daily outflow in October
What this shows: ETF flows reflect decisions made the previous day or hedging activity, not necessarily the day's reaction. One isolated day doesn't establish a trend.
My analysis: flows become useful over several days, not just one session. XRP ETFs still have a positive balance, while Ethereum and Solana ETFs have seen repeated outflows. This is a hypothesis, not a forecast.
This is not investment advice.
