Solana Ushers In a Landmark Consensus Upgrade 🚀
The highly anticipated Alpenglow upgrade is scheduled to go live on mainnet on October 21.

More capacity can then be devoted to real user transactions in DeFi, on-chain order books, blockchain games, payments, and more—potentially lowering on-chain fees further over time.
✅ Regular token holders: Usually, no action is needed. Wallets, transfers, and DApps will work as usual, but confirmations will be much faster.
✅ Stakers: Check whether your chosen validator has completed the upgrade to avoid any temporary impact on rewards.
✅ Developers: Fast finality opens up entirely new possibilities—real-time DeFi order books, high-frequency liquidations, instant interactions in blockchain games, and high-performance payment use cases. The potential is enormous.
Of course, rebuilding the underlying consensus also brings short-term uncertainty: the network may experience fluctuations during the transition, the ecosystem will need time to adapt to the new paradigm, and the landscape for MEV and validators may also change.
