Kevin Warsh Gives No Clear Signal on Fed’s Next Rate Hike

Fed Chair Kevin Warsh spoke at the IMF-World Bank meetings in Bangkok, but did not say whether the Fed will raise interest rates again at its October 27–28 meeting.

He said the Fed will assess economic data at its October and December meetings before deciding its next move.

Warsh defended September’s rate hike as necessary to control inflation and maintain price stability.

He also called AI a major potential change for the US and global economy, while warning that its impact on jobs remains uncertain.

Higher-than-expected inflation has kept another rate hike in focus, but Warsh gave no assurance that the Fed is finished raising rates this year.
