$XAU $CL Oil prices edge lower as supplies improve, with WTI on track for a strong week
Oil prices edged lower in the early hours of Friday, following reports that the United States is considering easing sanctions on oil tankers to reduce maritime oil shipping costs. The International Energy Agency also said it would accelerate the release of its emergency oil reserves.

However, oil’s losses were limited amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East, as Iran continued targeting ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, while clashes between Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Houthi group continued.

West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures fell 0.4% to $97.58 a barrel by 11:21 p.m. Saudi Arabia time. WTI futures are on track for a 6.2% weekly gain, after surging on Thursday following data showing a sharp drop in U.S. oil inventories last week.
