$XRP has been drifting around $1.33 for so long that it’s putting people to sleep. Its 24-hour range is just $1.28 to $1.35, with $714M in trading volume—on the surface, a classic low-volume consolidation for a major coin. But I’ve spotted a signal others have overlooked: over the past 48 hours, at least three long-dormant XRP whale addresses have made small “test” transfers. Each first moved fewer than 50,000 XRP to an exchange deposit address, rather than dumping everything at once. On-chain, this kind of move usually doesn’t mean they’re about to sell immediately. Instead, they may be checking whether the exchange deposit channels are working smoothly and whether market depth is sufficient to absorb a larger amount of tokens later. At the same time, net XRP inflows to exchanges haven’t increased noticeably, but stablecoin minting on the XRP Ledger has quietly picked up—suggesting that funds are being positioned on-chain rather than chasing prices directly from CEXs. My view is that XRP’s current price of $1.33 isn’t random; it sits right at the upper edge of a short-term cost-basis cluster. If the whales deposit their remaining tokens to exchanges in batches, the price could first break above $1.35 in a false move, then quickly retest $1.28. But if those deposit addresses show no further activity within 24 hours and instead send the XRP back to self-custody, it was probably just a feint. In that case, a recovery in broader market risk appetite could help XRP go on to test above $1.40. Another thing to note: the $714M in 24-hour trading volume hasn’t been accompanied by sharp price swings, suggesting that both selling pressure and buying demand are waiting for an external catalyst. Meanwhile, the S\u0026P 500 just ended a streak of more than 50 days without a 1% drop. Concerns about AI spending and Federal Reserve interest rates are weighing on risk assets, so it’s hard for XRP to rally entirely on its own. So what I’m watching most closely now is whether those small deposits are “testing liquidity” or the prelude to “selling in tranches.” Time will tell. Agree?
