#nil $NIL @Nillion Nillion is a decentralized privacy-computing network, officially positioned as “the home of Encrypted Markets.” It aims to solve a longstanding core pain point in on-chain markets: on transparent blockchains, key information such as trading intent, stop-loss levels, strategy logic, and conditional triggers is fully exposed before execution, making it vulnerable to front-running, sniping, stop-loss hunting, or strategy leakage.
Core mechanism: Covenants
The core primitive proposed by Nillion is Covenants. Users can encrypt an instruction (such as a trade, order, stop-loss, bid, or prediction), put it on-chain, and bind it to a trigger condition. Until the condition is met, no one can read its contents—not other traders, searchers, or network nodes, nor even the project team itself. Once the condition is met, the instruction is automatically unlocked and executed.
This does not rely on a single trusted third party holding the keys. The instruction is split into multiple secret shares (using Shamir secret sharing), which are separately encrypted for a group of Blacklight nodes. The instruction can only be reconstructed and executed after a threshold number of nodes jointly release their shares. Blacklight L1 is currently running on Ethereum mainnet, and nodes must stake at least approximately 70,000 $NIL .
