【Volume is quietly picking up—what is it waiting for?】
ZEC has been hovering around 1,100 for nearly three months, with no real increase in volume. But last week, trading volume suddenly surged to an unusual level—over 5% of its market cap. I’ve checked: when this kind of signal appears, it usually means either major players are building positions or someone is getting ahead of a move.
On the daily chart, ZEC is still in a major contraction. The 1,055 level has been tested as support several times over the past six months, while 1,276 has repeatedly capped rallies. There’s only about 200 points between them, and the window for choosing a direction is getting closer.
The 4H chart is even clearer: the highs and lows are steadily narrowing, and volatility has compressed to an extreme. In this kind of setup, the price either breaks out quickly or keeps grinding sideways. I’ve seen it happen too many times—the longer it coils, the harder it can explode.
But that’s not the main point.
The real question is: whichever way it goes, what does this actually mean?
ZEC is a privacy coin. Australia just said it will adopt the OECD’s crypto tax reporting framework, with data due in 2028. The demand for privacy and regulatory compliance are becoming increasingly at odds. Given this broader backdrop, do you think the business case for privacy coins can still work? As regulation tightens, where does the core value lie for projects that depend on privacy?
My view is that if this move goes up, it may just be a technical rebound; if it goes down, expectations have changed.
I’m not sure which way it’ll go, but I’m inclined to think it may first test support on the downside—under regulatory pressure, sentiment can turn bearish first.
