U.S. PPI rises to 6.3% year over year in September

U.S. PPI rose to 6.3% year over year in September, with inflation proving stickier than CPI 📉. These numbers are more jarring than any calls for rate cuts.

I’m on the data-driven side and oppose blind optimism. Some people keep pointing to CPI having peaked, but sticky factory-gate prices can’t be smoothed away with blind optimism.

Don’t count on easy money to rescue the market. Businesses’ production costs will eventually be passed on, penny for penny, to everyone’s shopping cart. Next, keep a close eye on crude oil inventory data and any changes in how the Fed’s meeting minutes describe “core inflation.”

Watching my purchasing power slowly melt away in my shopping cart like an ice cube—the data never lies 🧊.
