Three government agencies launch joint investigation into the “Zunjie brake incident”; the truth is about to come out

The situation has blown up so much that the public deserves an explanation. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Cyberspace Administration of China, and the State Administration for Market Regulation are now jointly investigating the “Zunjie brake incident.”

To be honest, I’m not taking sides with either Dongchedi or Huawei. I just want to know the truth. When Dongchedi’s video came out, I felt that some things didn’t add up. JAC is a long-established automaker, after all. In decades of making cars, it hasn’t had a brake-related problem—so why would this happen specifically with a high-end car made in partnership with Huawei? The logic just doesn’t make sense. And if they really were cutting corners, it wouldn’t make sense to do so on a high-end car, where profit margins are already high. Since the incident blew up, Huawei has indeed been on the back foot in the public debate. On both Douyin and Twitter, the criticism has been pretty much one-sided.

As for whether there’ll be a twist, we can just wait for the official announcement. Taking sides doesn’t matter; the truth does. As someone just watching from the sidelines, I only want to know what actually happened. Is there really a quality problem with the brakes, or is Dongchedi just a “pay-to-play king”?
