Does decentralization cloak us in privacy—or is it the emperor’s new clothes? Nillion has been out of sight for a while now. How many people even remember it?
Every time I ask ChatGPT a question, my input is like a nude photo tossed onto an enormous central server. Health records, DNA, financial information—without exception, they’re all running around naked.
Remember when Nillion first proposed blind computing? Data would be stored, transmitted, and processed while encrypted the entire time, split into countless fragments and distributed across different nodes, with no single node able to reconstruct the whole picture. Before, you handed your wallet to a stranger to look after. Now, you lock it in a safe, split the key into three pieces, and give one to each of three guards who don’t know one another. All three guards have to agree before the safe can be opened.
Nillion only migrated to Ethereum in early 2026, and the network already has over 110,000 users. It’s building the Blacklight verification layer, with 70,000 NIL staked to become nodes. a16z has already named privacy the most important moat in crypto for 2026, predicting that “secrets-as-a-service” will become core infrastructure.
But so what? No matter how good the white paper is, the old must eventually give way to the new. Whether Nillion can even survive is an open question, and whether it’s a good investment is something the market will have to decide. #nil $NIL @Nillion #比特币走势分析 #以太坊ETF批准预期 $ETH
