A few signals to watch before meme coins pick up volume
A recovery in sentiment needs price action. Without it, it’s just talk.
For meme coins, first check whether the leaders have volume, then see whether the small caps dare to follow.
PEPE 0.00000407 (+4.36%), SHIB 0.00000512 (+3.85%), BONK 0.00000307 (+3.72%), WIF 0.1989 (+3.27%)
For comparison: BTC 81850 (24h +1.05%).
PEPE is up +4.36% over 24h, clearly outperforming BTC at +1.05%, which suggests independent buying. But DOGE is up only +2.01%, so the sector isn’t moving in sync. Stick to the leaders; don’t speculate on laggards catching up.
BTC is still at 81850 (+1.05%). Unless BTC breaks above 82,505, I’ll treat meme coins’ right-side action as noise.
The switch for meme coins is BTC: unless it breaks above 82634, I won’t count gains in small caps as a sector-wide move.
Data: Binance spot 24h / Binance USDⓈ-M / Yahoo daily (5-day change) / altme_fng / mempool_fees / defillama_chains / coingecko_trending. Missing figures are not filled in.
Are you staying in cash and waiting for a pullback, or are you already on board?

Useful info: For early-stage meme coins, first check whether the liquidity pool is locked and whether more tokens can be issued, then look at the price gains.
Thought: VIX <16: If US stocks are grinding higher, you can follow the sentiment, but reduce your futures position by one notch first.
