🚨 HYPE’S BUYBACK ENGINE JUST GOT A NEW REVENUE SOURCE
Hyperliquid has added a new source of funding for its HYPE buyback mechanism: yield generated by USDC reserves.
Under the platform’s Aligned Quote Asset v2 (AQAv2) framework, around 90% of eligible USDC reserve earnings are directed toward the protocol’s Assistance Fund, which purchases HYPE on the open market. The first reported payment was approximately $14.58 million.
Why does this matter?
Previously, the buyback mechanism relied heavily on trading-related revenue. The new arrangement adds another potential source of funding, linking stablecoin reserve earnings to HYPE purchases.
But there’s an important distinction: buybacks do not guarantee a higher token price. The amount available can change with reserve earnings and the program’s terms.
