U.S. cryptocurrency exchange Binance US is reportedly seeking to raise up to $100 million at a target valuation of around $1 billion.

It reportedly approached the Trump family’s crypto platform, but the platform had no interest in participating.

According to Bloomberg, Binance US is in talks to secure private investment, hoping to expand its business with a new round of funding and regain crypto market share after facing enforcement action from U.S. regulators.

If the fundraising round is conducted at a $1 billion valuation, it would be far below the $4.5 billion pre-money valuation Binance US had when it raised $200 million in seed funding in 2022, reflecting a steep decline in the company’s valuation since then.

Reports say Binance.US presented its fundraising plan to World Liberty Financial, the crypto platform co-founded by U.S. President Donald Trump and his sons, but the latter will not invest.

Last year, Binance was involved in a $2 billion investment deal involving an entity linked to the royal family of the United Arab Emirates and World Liberty Financial. The deal used USD1, a dollar-pegged stablecoin issued by World Liberty, and drew scrutiny over the business ties between a political family and the cryptocurrency industry.

Binance.US strives to return to the market after 2023 regulatory settlement

Binance.US is seeking to raise funds as it continues to face business challenges following U.S. regulatory enforcement. In 2023, Binance Holdings reached a settlement with U.S. authorities, agreeing to pay a $4.3 billion fine and submit to additional oversight and compliance reviews.

Binance founder and then-CEO Changpeng Zhao pleaded guilty to a felony charge, served four months in prison, and was pardoned by Trump in 2025.

In the wake of the regulatory fallout, Binance.US faces greater competitive pressure in the market. If completed, the fundraising would help the company secure capital, expand its business, and try to narrow the competitive gap with major U.S. cryptocurrency exchanges. However, the fundraising is still under discussion, and the final amount, valuation, and list of investors have yet to be determined.
