I've been keeping an eye on Nillion's Encrypted Markets lately, and they're really interesting.
One thing I like most about Covenants is that they hide your “trading intent.”
In the past, placing stop-losses, limit orders, or auction strategies on-chain was basically like running naked—everyone could see what price you were waiting for, inviting MEV and sniper attacks. Covenants are different: you encrypt and seal your instructions on-chain. Until the conditions are met, no one can read them—not even nodes or the project team. Once the price or time conditions are satisfied, nodes work together to unlock and execute them.
Dusk's launch on Ethereum mainnet is a key milestone. It's not just about “private transfers”; it brings conditional execution to L1. Sealed orders, conditional payments, and Agent strategies can all run on it, without relying on a single operator.
Looking ahead at Nillion's seven eras, I'm most excited about two things:
Darkfall + Skyglow: expanding from Ethereum to multiple EVM chains, then enabling “observation on Chain A, settlement on Chain B.” Covenants will truly become a cross-chain primitive.
Nightside + Neon: custom conditional logic and a dedicated covenant language, so developers can build privacy applications without dealing with the underlying cryptography.
Many people think of mixers when they hear about privacy, but Nillion is building “strategy-layer privacy”—exactly what's missing from on-chain finance.
