๐ Quick fact | Gas fees
Since the 2021 London upgrade (EIP-1559), $ETH Ethereum gas fees have been split into a base fee and a tip, with the base fee being burned.
A transaction fee is roughly equal to the amount of Gas used ร the Gas price. Gas prices are usually expressed in Gwei.
1 Gwei equals 0.000000001 ETH, or 10 to the power of โ9 ETH.
How to save: Layer 2 bundles many transactions before writing them back to the mainnet, so the Gas fee per transaction is often much lower when spread across them.
Tip: If an operation isnโt urgent, try to avoid peak timesโyou can often save quite a bit on fees.
