Chainalysis has released a new report saying that the U.S. has once again become a net buyer of Bitcoin this year, with institutional investors making major purchases of $BTC while retail investors are mostly selling.

The report notes that the U.S. became a net recipient of Bitcoin inflows in 2026 for the first time since 2022. It also shows that the U.S. share of global Bitcoin activity has risen in every reporting period since spot ETFs launched in 2024. Over the same period, the U.S. crypto economy reached $2.78 trillion, contracting by just 2.2% during the bear market. The report says dollar-backed stablecoins are becoming the preferred currency for cross-border peer-to-peer economic activity, benefiting U.S. businesses and the government.
