According to CNBC, the Senate Leadership Fund, the Republican Party's leading Senate super PAC, raised $272.9 million from July through September and ended the period with more than $155 million in cash, according to a Federal Election Commission filing. Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk provided $158 million in September through an affiliated Texas PAC created to support Republican Ken Paxton, with two donations of $75 million and $83 million that rank among the largest political contributions ever. Musk's donation also topped the Democratic Senate Majority PAC's entire third-quarter fundraising, after that group said it raised a record $151 million and finished September with $111.8 million in cash.
