Uniswap v4 captures nearly half of crypto trades

Uniswap has just released major figures for its fourth version. Over the past thirty days, the protocol has processed more than $44 billion in transactions through v4. This version now accounts for 49.9% of Uniswap’s total volume. V3 still represents 44.9% of trades, while v2 retains just 5.2%. For the first time in this recent breakdown, the fourth generation has clearly surpassed each of the previous versions individually.

The launch has been quite successful. Deployed on January 31, 2025, Uniswap v4 launched on twelve blockchain networks, including Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Polygon, and Optimism.

This new architecture introduces hooks, modules that allow developers to customize how liquidity pools work.

They can adjust fees, automate certain operations, or create more sophisticated management strategies. Uniswap v4 also improves transaction efficiency with an architecture that groups pools into a single main contract and an optimized accounting system.
