Just saw an $855K liquidation hit on Binance Futures, concentrated on the buy side, at 04:29. ETH was up just 0.25% on the 15m timeframe, with volume at 1.19x and a volatility Z-score of only 0.72—an interesting combination: price didn’t take off, but liquidation pressure came first.

What’s more worth watching is OI: it was basically flat over 15m, but fell 0.37% over 1h, shedding more than $20M in notional value. Price up, open interest down—this setup looks less like new longs entering and more like shorts covering or positions being reduced involuntarily. The notional change ranked #1 across the entire pool, with an anomaly percentile of 46.4%, so there is indeed some signal in the data.

24h trading volume is over $130B, liquidity is ample, the buy/sell ratio is 1.03, and the taker volume delta is 1.3%—slightly buy-side, but not extreme. I’m not keen to chase at this level; I’ll first watch to see whether volume picks up after the covering ends. $ETH
