【SOL has been a slow bleed this week—doesn’t hurt, but it’s unsettling】
FNG has dropped to 53, with the weekly average barely at 60. Think it’s just a minor correction? Wrong. This is a classic slow grind down in sentiment—it doesn’t fall far enough to make you stop out, but it frustrates you day after day.
Why do I call it a slow bleed? Because what you should really be afraid of isn’t how much the market is down right now—it’s that the market is starting to get used to these drops. Once “What’s a 5% drop?” becomes the consensus, a much sharper sell-off may not be far off.
The Alpenglow upgrade is coming on October 21, promising 150-millisecond finality. I’ve looked into it carefully. Put simply, it’s meant to make Solana faster. But here’s the question: who is that speed for? Does SOL really need to be that fast right now? The trading volume is right there, and daily active addresses haven’t taken off. A technical upgrade is a good thing, but for that good thing to translate into results, people need to use it and capital needs to flow in. So far, that chain of logic hasn’t quite come together.
Tokenized stocks on SOL have reached nearly $3.3 billion, and that really is happening. But if you ask whether the vast majority of SOL holders care about this, they don’t. They only care whether SOL will go up, and when. This tug-of-war between “the technicals are supportive” and “the money isn’t buying it” is what wears you down the most.
My own view: we’re ranging between 98 and 108. I’ve already been slapped in the face twice going back and forth. Price tested support once and held; it tested resistance once and failed to break through. If volume still doesn’t pick up next week, I’m leaning toward a move down to test 98. It’s not that I’m bearish—it’s just that I’ve seen the old “the longer it ranges, the more likely it is to fall” script too many times.
What about you? How are you feeling right now? Still holding?
