The chart $BTC says it all: a low of $79,800 at 13:00 UTC (Binance), followed by a V-shaped move to $82,634 at 17:00. Around 18:00 UTC, spot is still holding near $82,400.
After September's US PPI report (the hot print already discussed), the US session initially retested below $80k, then buyers came back strong. $ETH followed the same pattern: a daily wick near $2,318, a reclaim above $2,420, and around $2,450 as I write.
According to CoinDesk, the odds of a Fed rate hike in October fell back to around ~26% after peaking near 47% on the inflation data.
The dominant read: the early-session leverage flush (nearly $1B in liquidations over 24h, cited by CoinDesk) cleared out some long positioning, and the market defended the ~$80k zone without settling below it. As long as $BTC closes hourly above ~$81,000, the V-shaped recovery remains the base case. Clear invalidation: a move back below $79,800 on volume.
What do you think: continuation above $82.5k, or a retest of $81k first?
