When an inflation report comes out, BTC’s volatility is easily attributed to “macro headwinds.” But what I care more about is whether sustained buying can keep up after rate expectations shift.

According to a report published by Decrypt / Decrypt Agent at 11:48 (UTC) on October 15, 2026, BTC briefly fell below $81,000 during the period covered. U.S. CPI rose 3.7% year over year in September, above expectations. Citing CME FedWatch data, the report said the probability of a rate hike in October had risen from 17.7% a week earlier to 29.3% at the time of publication. A higher probability does not mean a rate hike has already happened, nor can it be used to infer BTC’s next move.

The interviewees in the report also noted that slowing demand from spot ETFs and corporate treasuries may be another reason the market lacks sustained momentum. My observation is that rate expectations and ETF flows can be considered together: the former affects risk appetite, while the latter can help gauge new demand. Drawing conclusions from a single price level or one day’s volatility may overlook changes in capital flows. This is only my personal observation and is not investment advice.
