Once $80K broke, it was pulled right back up—the worst hit weren’t shorts, but longs 🩸
📉 Yesterday, $BTC BTC fell below $80K for the first time in a month, dipping as low as the $79K range before bouncing back in a V-shaped recovery. It’s now trading at around $82,020.
💥 Liquidations across the crypto market totaled $942 million over 24 hours, with long positions accounting for 91.6%.
🔥 $ETH took the hardest hit: $283 million in liquidations for the coin, as it fell to around the $2,35x level.
👀 Here’s the interesting contrast:
👉 Santiment data (10/13): BTC’s bullish-to-bearish comment ratio was just 0.82, while ETH’s soared to 2.05, putting it in FOMO territory.
👉 Yet ETH—the asset people were most optimistic about—was hit the hardest.
👉 Meanwhile, Ansem tweeted that confidence in BTC among crypto natives is at its lowest level in nearly a decade, but he remains firmly bullish on a major rally.
My take ✅
1️⃣ This was a major flush-out of leveraged longs. The quick recovery after a brief dip below $80K suggests buyers are still stepping in at lower levels.
2️⃣ The Fear & Greed Index is at 53: neutral. Sentiment hasn’t collapsed, but it’s not exactly greedy either.
3️⃣ Key levels: $82K–$84K is resistance for BTC, while $80K is the line in the sand for bulls and bears. If it breaks below again and can’t recover, watch out for a second test of the lows.
4️⃣ The most popular trades are often the riskiest. For ETH in the short term, watch whether it can hold $2,350.
Which way are you leaning tonight: BTC to $84K first, or a retest of $80K? See you in the comments 👇
