$AKE This wasn’t a slow grind down; it ripped higher in one go this afternoon, then shook itself out again near the highs.

Gate perpetuals are currently around 0.0330, up about 27% over 24h, with a high of 0.03455 and a low of 0.02537. Trading volume is about 15.55 million U. BTC was only up around 0.7% over the same period, so this was an independent surge—don’t mistake it for a rally driven by the broader market.

How did volume build? From 15:00 to 16:00, it climbed from around 400,000 U to about 590,000 U, while the price rose from 0.027 to above 0.029. At 17:00, a sudden dump came with about 1.86 million U in volume: price surged to 0.0313, then fell back to around 0.027. That candle was already signaling rising volatility. Then, from 18:00 to 21:00, volume topped a million U almost every hour, pushing the price up in steps to 0.0338. The real trouble came at 22:00: about 2.81 million U drove the price to the daily high of 0.03455, then one candle plunged to 0.0287 and closed at 0.0294. That long lower wick near the highs shows real selling pressure—it wasn’t a case of “almost holding.”

At 23:00, the price bounced back to around 0.033. It looks like a recovery, but more likely people who missed the move are chasing it. The funding rate is around +0.0365% (4h): longs are paying, and the more they chase, the more expensive it gets.

My take: the 0.033–0.0345 zone has just shaken people out, so don’t chase longs. If you really want to trade it, wait for a pullback toward 0.030 and see whether volume contracts and buyers step in. If it breaks below the 22:00 low of 0.0287, this surge is probably over—don’t assume it has to make a new high.

Looking back at yesterday’s $ZZZ call: I said not to chase the highs and to wait for a pullback to 0.0135 to see if support held. The daily low later did hit 0.01325, then the price rallied back to around 0.0179. The pullback thesis was right, but it rallied further after finding support, so my original take was too conservative.

This is only a review of unusual price action, not a recommendation.
