$CL The International Energy Agency completes the release of 100 million barrels from its reserves
The International Energy Agency announced on Thursday that its member countries had agreed to complete the release of the remaining 100 million barrels of oil from the intervention launched in March to address rising fuel prices.

In a statement issued after a meeting of its executive board, the agency said that member countries would accelerate the distribution of the remaining volumes, including the release of 20 million barrels of diesel “as soon as possible.” Member countries have so far released 330 million of the 400 million barrels they pledged in March.

The United States had informally sought to press for an additional release to help address rising diesel prices. However, no formal proposal to release additional oil volumes was put forward at Thursday’s meeting, while European officials expressed doubts about the value of releasing more barrels at this time, according to people familiar with the discussions who requested anonymity because the talks were not public.
