Russia will ban direct P2P trading from July 2027 and block self-custody wallets—is this a psychological trap for retail traders, or are the whales getting ready to accumulate?

The new legal framework from the Central Bank of Russia will force all crypto transactions to go through licensed financial institutions. Individual investors will be limited to buying a maximum of 300,000 rubles per year and will have to pass a knowledge test before they can touch $BTC or $ETH .

From a liquidity-hunting perspective, this move brings underground flows under the authorities’ control. Funds and major players aren’t waiting until 2027 to make plans—they’ve been planning since today. And whales love using shocking regulatory news to trigger panic selling among the crowd, then accumulate again at lower support levels.

$BTC is holding at 81.491,7 USD (-0.49%), $ETH 2.384,72 USD (-1.63%). There are no signs of panic selling—the transition period is still nearly three years away, and actual withdrawal pressure isn’t showing up yet. In my view, this isn’t the time to FOMO into a short based on macro news. If the price reaches a strong support zone, that’s when it’s worth taking another look.
