Today’s news feels more like “graduating from the pilot” than launching yet another concept card.
Visa announced on October 15 that Visa Direct’s stablecoin capabilities are moving from pilot to commercial deployment. The first partner to roll them out is Inyo Global, a Visa Direct processor. Eligible customers can use $USDC to prefund cross-border payouts in near real time, rather than relying solely on traditional funding windows.
Inyo’s API already supported customer onboarding, risk management and compliance, payment acceptance, and domestic and international payouts in 180+ countries. Now it has a 24/7 $USDC prefunding option, using the same API. As Vira Platonova, Visa Direct’s global head, put it plainly: the next chapter is adoption, not another PowerPoint presentation.
The timeline is clear too—the prefunding/payout pilot launched in 2025 to validate cross-border funding and liquidity management; it only moved to production today. Availability still depends on eligibility and region; it’s not a global on/off switch.
This is different from Mastercard + BVNK’s Global Money Platform and Stripe + Plasma’s multi-currency cards: this is Visa Direct’s stablecoin prefunding network moving into production, with $USDC treasury management as the main feature.
This is not investment advice.
