There’s one number that beginners often misread at first glance today—open interest.
$ETH : Price 2,384, down 1.54% over 24 hours, yet open interest surged 22% in just one hour. Open interest is the total amount of contracts across the market that haven’t been closed. When the price falls while open interest rises, it means people aren’t just exiting—someone is opening new positions during the dip.

Are they going long or short? Check the long/short ratio: $ETH is at 3.14, meaning long positions are roughly three times the size of short positions. $BTC is only at 1.77; its price of 81,500 is also down just 0.53%, making it much steadier.

My take, for reference only: With longs so crowded, if the price keeps falling, stop-losses and liquidations could be triggered one after another, amplifying short-term volatility. $ETH needs closer watching than $BTC .
The broader market isn’t looking too worrying—the Fear & Greed Index is at 53, in neutral territory, and 10 of the 31 coins are up. $SOL 103.85 is also edging up 0.20%.

If it were you, with a long/short ratio of 3.14 right in front of you, would you follow the crowd and go long, or take the other side?
