When the unlock calendar says “X hundred million tokens unlock tomorrow,” which numbers should you look at first?
My understanding: the impact of the same $100 million unlock is obviously not on the same scale for a token with a $500 million circulating market cap versus one with a $50 billion circulating market cap.
Before and after an unlock, you may sometimes see on-chain records of large amounts of tokens moving from project-related addresses to exchanges. These records can be used as one reference point.
My current practice: I rely on official project announcements for unlock data; figures from third-party websites are for reference only.
