A little thing I noticed watching the market today: $ZEC 15-minute contract open interest rose 1.64%, with an open interest value of about $533 million; the price was up 0.08% over the same period.
Open interest moved, but my position is still zero—I’m just watching from the sidelines.
A quick educational note: contract open interest reflects the combined demand for leverage and hedging. Some positions are simply used to hedge spot market risk.
Before trading with leverage, think about whether you can handle the worst-case scenario, then consider what the indicators are telling you.
