What’s an appropriate position size for a single contract?
A common position-sizing formula: Position notional value ≈ total capital × risk percentage per trade ÷ stop-loss distance. Many trading resources suggest limiting the risk per trade to around 1%–2% of total capital, though the actual percentage varies from person to person.
The larger the drawdown, the harder it is to recover: after losing 50%, the remaining funds need to double just to return to the original level.
