“Jonber Kim,” whose family name is Park, was acquitted at trial by the Seoul Southern District Court on October 15 in a crypto-asset fraud case involving approximately 340 billion won (US$230 million).

The court found that the defendant may have made false claims about the nature of the POD (Grape Coin) and ATT (Atube) projects. However, prosecutors failed to prove a causal link between this conduct and individual investors being misled into purchasing the tokens.

The allegations of manipulating the token price and misappropriating proceeds from Grape Coin sales were also found to lack sufficient evidence. Two other defendants were each sentenced to four months in prison, suspended for one year, and six months in prison, suspended for two years, for submitting false documents during the review of their listing extension applications at Coinone, thereby obstructing the exchange’s review process.
