BLUR up 20.30% in 24 hours: OI expands again, while intraday surge still awaits 4-hour close confirmation

Bottom line: BLUR’s latest rally has seen spot and perpetuals strengthen in tandem, accompanied by a renewed increase in open interest. However, the strongest leg of the rally is still unfolding in an unclosed 4-hour candlestick. The 0.01321–0.01377 range is the key confirmation zone overhead. Until the price holds above it at a 4-hour close, it is more appropriate to describe this as a high-volatility rebound than a confirmed trend breakout.

Data in this article was collected on October 15, 2026, at 18:59 Beijing time. Spot prices, trading volume, and candlesticks are for Binance BLURUSDT spot; open interest (OI) and funding rates are for Binance BLURUSDT perpetuals. The 4-hour candlestick from 16:00 to 20:00 Beijing time has not yet closed, so the intraday high is for observation only and does not serve as confirmation.

BLUR spot is currently around 0.01268 USDT, up 20.30% over 24 hours, with a 24-hour range of 0.00974–0.01377 and trading volume of approximately 7.923 million USDT. Perpetuals are currently around 0.01235 USDT, up 18.07% over 24 hours, with a range of 0.00959–0.01321 and trading volume of approximately 50.732 million USDT. Spot and perpetuals are moving in the same direction, indicating that this is not an anomalous move on just one side of the market. However, perpetual trading volume is significantly higher than spot volume, so leveraged trading is having a greater impact on short-term prices.

Compared with the broader market, BTC spot is around 81,059 USDT, down 2.87% over 24 hours, while ETH spot is around 2,368.43 USDT, down 5.51%. BLUR is clearly outperforming the broader market, which is a sign of strength. However, smaller coins are also more prone to sharp pullbacks when the broader market weakens, so relative strength should not be taken as a direct sign of low risk.

First, consider the structure of the completed candles. The perpetual 4-hour candle from 12:00 to 16:00 Beijing time opened at 0.01001, reached a high of 0.01051 and a low of 0.00996, and closed at 0.01012, with trading volume of approximately 2.3576 million USDT. The previous candle, from 08:00 to 12:00, closed at 0.01000, with trading volume of approximately 4.7347 million USDT. In other words, before the current sharp rally, the completed 4-hour structure was still consolidating at lower levels, and trading volume had fallen by approximately 50.2% from the previous candle. The real acceleration began after 16:00, and that candle has not yet closed.

The high of the current, still-open perpetual candle is 0.01321, while the 24-hour spot high is 0.01377. Without a 4-hour candle close, these highs cannot be described as a confirmed breakout. If the price retreats to around 0.012 after a spike, it would suggest that buying support has not yet stabilized. If it closes on strong volume and holds around 0.01321 on a retest, the breakout would be on firmer ground.

Leverage data has changed significantly. Historical OI data shows open interest at approximately 455.86m, 422.68m, and 396.70m at 08:00, 12:00, and 16:00, respectively, declining continuously during the first part of the period. Real-time OI at 18:59 was approximately 496.81m, up about 25.2% from the 16:00 reference value. Based on the current mark price, OI's notional value is estimated at approximately 6.15 million USDT, up about 53% from the historical value of approximately 4.02 million USDT at 16:00. This indicates that new leveraged positions entered during the sharp rally, so the move is not simply a price increase on its own. However, OI only indicates changes in position size; by itself, it cannot tell us which side—longs or shorts—will ultimately prevail.

Funding rates also need to be considered separately. The most recent settlement at 16:00 had a funding rate of approximately -0.00072720, or -0.072720%/8h. The estimated figure from the real-time interface was approximately -0.01224597, or -1.224597%/8h. A negative rate means shorts pay longs under the current settlement calculation, but the real-time estimate can change with market conditions. It should not be treated as a fixed return or as a reason to go long. During periods of high volatility, funding rates, mark prices, and liquidation risks can all change rapidly.

Focus on three key levels going forward:

First, the 0.01321–0.01377 area above. 0.01321 is the high of the current, still-open perpetual candle, while 0.01377 is the 24-hour spot high. It would be closer to a confirmed breakout only if the price holds above this area at the 4-hour close and then holds on a retest. An intraday spike above it followed by a retreat does not count as confirmation.

Second, the 0.01051–0.01012 area in the middle. These levels correspond to the high and close of the most recent completed 4-hour candle. If the price can still consolidate above this area after a pullback, it may mean that coins accumulated at lower levels have turned into short-term support. If the price quickly falls back below it, the current rally looks more like a high-volatility rebound.

Third, 0.00996 below. This was the low of the most recent completed 4-hour candle. If a subsequent 4-hour candle closes below 0.00996 and the rebound fails to reclaim 0.01012, the risk that the current bullish structure has failed will rise significantly.

The outlook for the next 24–72 hours depends on a few straightforward conditions: only consider shifting the monitoring range above 0.01377 if a 4-hour candle closes on strong volume above 0.01321 and holds there. If the price is rejected after a spike and OI falls rapidly, treat it as a pullback following a change in positioning between longs and shorts. If the price breaks below 0.00996, no longer treat the current move as a confirmed breakout. These observations are based on publicly available market data; they are not a promise of returns or a guarantee of execution or stop-loss prices.
