EVM execution must be deterministic: the same input must produce the same result on every node, or nodes won’t be able to reach consensus.
Before interacting with a contract, check its source code on a block explorer to see whether it has been verified. Be especially cautious with contracts whose source code isn’t public.
When calling a contract on Ethereum, the EVM charges Gas for every instruction it executes, paid with $ETH .
