DeepSeek acknowledged an incident that made its API service unavailable from 8:11 a.m. to 1:04 p.m. on October 15, 2026, Beijing time. The company will refund the full cost of usage over the previous seven days in credits.

The announcement was made by Tianyi Cui, a member of DeepSeek’s product team. After the incident, the company said it immediately began investigating and implementing a fix, with a focus on service stability.

The refund covers usage costs from October 8 through October 14. The credits will be automatically added to users’ accounts and applied first toward API fees.

DeepSeek says it is reviewing and eliminating single points of failure in its system to prevent similar incidents from happening again. The company has apologized to users.
