South Korea plans to tighten financial cybersecurity rules
Exchanges, DeFi, and wallet businesses will all be affected

Guys,
I’m absolutely stunned by what South Korea just did

On October 15,
South Korea’s FSC dropped an industry review report
covering 555 financial companies
And guess what they found?
130 had cybersecurity weaknesses
Nearly 100,000 customer records were exposed
The affected institutions include Streami
and the crypto trading platform Prabang
Holy shit
This is serious

But what’s really fucked up is how the FSC is responding
It’s pushing ahead with stricter financial cybersecurity rules
Once they take effect,
it won’t just be banks and brokerages
Crypto exchanges, DeFi protocols, wallet providers, and related platforms
could all fall under the regulatory umbrella
For South Korea’s crypto market,
this is another major compliance upgrade
after real-name trading requirements and tax policies

South Korea has been working to address gaps in its crypto asset regulations
If financial cybersecurity rules are extended to the crypto industry,
exchanges, wallets, and DeFi platforms may have to meet higher technical security standards
including private key protection, hot wallet management, cold storage isolation, and internal access controls

So, guys,
this move
will raise the bar for platforms to enter the market
and make it even harder for smaller platforms to survive

In the short term, this will have a huge impact on South Korean exchanges
But if the reform succeeds,
in the long run, it could help boost user confidence

South Korea really doesn’t mess around
If it’s going to do something,
it goes all in
