Who exactly receives the fee that pops up when you make a transfer?
My understanding is that Layer 2 networks bundle many transactions together and write them back to the mainnet. Once the cost is spread out, the Gas fee for each transaction is often much cheaper.
1 Gwei equals 0.000000001 ETH, or 10 to the power of -9 ETH.
The Gas fee paid on Ethereum is $ETH .
