Tonight at 20:30, U.S. September PPI and retail sales are released at the same time

- Headline PPI is forecast at 0.6% month over month, up from 0.4% in August; core PPI is forecast at 0.3%. Crude oil, gasoline, and diesel prices remain high and are still feeding through to producer costs.

- A stronger-than-expected reading would raise the odds of a rate hike in October, putting pressure on risk-asset valuations first. The 30-day correlation with the Nasdaq has rebounded, while longs are still paying the perpetual funding rate.

If the data comes in scorching hot, the 98,000–100,000 range is the first major resistance zone; support may only emerge on a retest of 92,000. It’s highly volatile and tends to fall half a beat faster than the broader market. Are you going long or short on tonight’s data?
