【Old Hand’s Market Watch】Major coins are diverging! $BTC is holding up, while $ETH and $SOL have weakened
A shift has emerged among major coins over the past couple of days: they’re not all falling together. BTC has been relatively resilient, while ETH, BNB, XRP, and SOL have performed worse over this period. SOL stands out in particular, with one of the steepest losses among this group over the past seven days.
One other detail deserves attention: market analysis shows that total crypto open interest rose by about 15% over the past week, while BTC open interest fell by about 6%. This suggests trading activity hasn’t disappeared; leveraged funds may be shifting their focus toward altcoins.
My view is that it’s still too early to say this downturn is over. If BTC holds near $80,000 and climbs back into the $82,000–$84,000 range, it will be in a better position to help major coins recover. If it breaks decisively below $80,000, we’ll need to watch for selling pressure to intensify.
With ETH and SOL, don’t assume they’re cheap just because they’ve fallen more. Until BTC stabilizes, even a rebound in weaker coins may be no more than a recovery within a broader downtrend.
Two things to watch next: whether BTC can regain a firm footing in the key range, and whether ETH and SOL can stop underperforming.
The real dividing line for this market isn’t which coin has fallen the most, but whether funds return to major altcoins once BTC stabilizes.
