Conclusion first: SOL currently looks more like a high-volatility weak market, with heavy-volume selling and no clear reduction in leverage. An intraday bounce from the low is not enough to conclude that the decline has bottomed. First, watch whether the area around 100.51 holds; then look for a confirmed 4-hour close above 104.93.

As of 14:55 Beijing time on October 15, the Binance SOLUSDT perpetual contract was trading at around 101.96 USDT, down 4.83% over 24 hours, with trading volume of approximately 2.533 billion USDT. Spot was around 102.02 USDT, down 4.81% over 24 hours, so spot and perpetual markets were moving in the same direction. Trading volume here does not mean net capital inflows.

Based on the completed candles, the 4-hour candle from 08:00 to 12:00 fell about 1.75%, opening at 104.24, reaching a high of 104.84 and a low of 100.51, and closing at 102.42. Turnover was about 614 million USDT, compared with about 214 million in the previous candle from 04:00 to 08:00—roughly 2.87 times higher in the latest candle. A high-volume decline indicates widening disagreement, but by itself does not confirm that a new trend has taken hold.

Leverage has not eased in tandem. Binance 4-hour OI data shows that from 08:00 to 12:00, the number of open contracts rose from about 8.6753 million to 8.6943 million, an increase of about 0.22%. Their notional value rose from about 901 million USDT to 906 million USDT, an increase of about 0.56%. In other words, OI was essentially flat to slightly higher as prices weakened, which is more consistent with leveraged positions changing hands amid high trading volume; it cannot simply be interpreted as longs having been flushed out.

As for funding rates, the most recently settled rate was about -0.000183%, while the live premiumIndex lastFundingRate was about +0.006227% per 8 hours. This figure reflects contract pricing and positioning at a particular point in time; it is not a guarantee of direction, nor can returns be inferred from it.

For trading, 100.51 is currently the key low area to watch. If a subsequent 4-hour candle closes below it with trading volume continuing to expand, the weak structure may persist. If price recovers above 104.84–104.93, and does so with a confirming close and volume rather than merely a brief intraday spike, that would be closer to confirmation of a short-term recovery. The current 4-hour candle from 12:00 to 16:00 has not yet closed, so the intraday low of 101.32 should not be described as a final confirmation.
